The food was good but more like okay than amazing. We really expected incredible food and it was just fine. - The mushroom risotto was good, average risotto, not creamy and weirdly sour - Caesar salad with chicken was dry and flavourless with chicken thigh meat - Salmon and meat were good - But the brownie dessert!! Omg this was next level, so decadent and rich with choc pieces in brownie and the portion was huge. Atmosphere was cozy and cute, you need a reservation as the place is really small. There is two floors, toilet is tiny and no baby changing table. Service was excellent! We parked on the neighbouring street.

Best food we had in Iceland! We tried the lamb and the duck, they were both amazing. Highly recommend it! The prices are also very decent.

The food was yummy with really fresh ingredients. The beef taco and mushrooms were a real highlight. We tried the reindeer for the novelty, it was tasty but probably our least favourite dish. The staff were all friendly.

I come here every time I visit Reykjavík. Wonderful place and atmosphere. The food is amazing and staff is amazing! Located across the street from Hallgrimskirkja and the statue of Leif Eiriksson which is the city’s main landmark. Highly recommended you get reservations during the high season or can sit at the bar and have wonderful conversation with the incredible bartenders while they make your favorite cocktail!

If there's ever a place to settle in with a group of friends, maybe even feel a little bit shire-ish (or resembling those nested hillside troll homes), it's the earthen-roofed cottage named ROK. For the tasting menu, you have to opt in for the whole table, but you can basically create your own tasting menu by linking together some irresistible tapas-style appetizers, or going big for the larger, entree portion items. They have a really great variety of types and styles of food, broken down by category (green, fish, meat, dessert, sides, cheeses & snacks) but further explored by the contrast in ingredients, texture, cultural context and preparation method. We opted for a more protein-focused feast, but don’t sleep on their veggies, they’re much more than a garnish and oftentimes the star of the show. It's impossible to not be lured in by the ceviche, carpaccio, crudo and tartares around town, dotting the pages of many of the most thoughtful menus, and ROK was no different. We are also constantly victims of a good chimichurri, so the tenderloin was an easy grab. Throw in some really tasty shrimp tacos, a neatly arranged salad with avocado dressing and some incredible cocktails, and you may not have room for dessert.
