As I am noting on all my reviews, I had travelled back in November of 2023 (these TWO visits occurred on the 23rd and 28th), and I am trying to be better about leaving reviews for businesses that provided an exceptional experience and deserve future patron business nudged their way. Thus, my review is almost 2 years late, but I want to give this establishment what they deserve. I stopped here on my first day in Iceland, and on the last day before I flew back out, as the customer service and experience was so impressive. I personally felt beyond welcomed, and bartender went out of her way to tell me the story of the Yule Cat (Jólakötturinn), make me a custom Jólaöl beverage (using malt beer), and asked my trip itinerary while writing down and providing suggestions. I had heard Icelanders are some of the friendliest people in the world, and both visits lived up to that generalization. On the return visit, the same bartender was there and asked how I felt about everything I had done on my trip. The hospitality and warmth and friendliness here was everything I would want out of a business. Folks, if you are in Reykjavík and enjoy great conversation, beer and food, do everything you can to keep business coming this business' way.
The Icelandic Journey offered at the restaurant was absolutely amazing. The staff explained each course before we ate it and was served in 4 tastings. The beer flight was also as amazing from all Icelandic breweries.
The food was outstanding. My wife's surf & turf was cooked exactly right, and the iberico pork cheeks I had were so tender they practically dissolved. We kicked things off with the seared scallops, honestly one of the best bites of the trip.
What a fantastic spot in Reykjavik. Ample seating in a traditional icelandic restaurant. Extensive menu to suit all including Icelandic delicacies like puffin. We ordered 2 starters ( fish soup and scallops ) and then a rack of ribs to share . Amazing quality and taste . Staff extremely friendly , spoke perfect English and very attentive. The pig in a sweater outside should catch your attention if nothing else !
The special house burger was sooo good. And the dipping sauce for the waffle fries was cheese fondue which was really good and so were the brioche bun. The waffle fries were crispy and tasted amazing. The service was good and food came out in a reasonable price. The price was very high, For 3 dishes it came out to $115 USD. Overpriced.
