We came here for dinner and the restaurant was cozy and not busy at all, so we were expecting a relaxed evening. I ordered the lamb chops, while my partner had the pepperoni and mushroom pizza. The pizza arrived first, nice and hot, which was great. However, my lamb chops didn’t arrive until about 10–12 minutes later, meaning my partner had already started eating. What disappointed me most wasn’t the wait itself, but the lack of communication. A simple apology or a quick “your other dish will be out in a few minutes” would have made a big difference. When my meal finally arrived, the portion of lamb chops felt quite small. The meat itself was well cooked and tasty, but the sauce was overly sour and didn’t complement the dish. The pizza was decent, but there are better pizza places downtown. Unfortunately, the service never improved. Throughout the meal, no one checked in to ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything. After we finished, one of the waitresses simply cleared the plates without asking if we’d like dessert, coffee, or even if we were ready for the check. Since no one came back to the table, we decided to skip dessert there and went to Lookoomas instead. I’ve worked in the service industry for many years, so I understand that every shift can be different. Still, good hospitality is about communication and making guests feel looked after, especially when the restaurant isn’t busy. We don’t mind paying for a good meal and good service, but unfortunately this experience fell short on both. The food was okay overall, but the service lacked warmth and attentiveness. I hope they improve, but based on this visit, I wouldn’t return.

Expensive compared to what else there is in town. Our Greek waiter was lovely. Portion size was good. My lamb and chicken dish had poor quality lamb. Warm not hot. Feta and spinach parcels and flatbreads were lukewarm. As we were the only customers the food should have been hot. The food looks good in the photos, but it is a case of style over substance. Would not return as it was not worth the money.

After several days of Burger and fries / Fiat and chips etc we looked for somewhere that had chicken on the menue. We found Meze. Fantastic service try a taste of the drinks to choose our beer. Super fresh orange juice lkvkey wine all served by Stephan who was so polite and attentive. Laid back calm atmosphere quiet and chilled easy to relax. Lemon chicken and 2 lasagne bolonais were ordered. Both dishes were delightful the best food we have had in Rekyavic. Pop in try it I am sure you will enjoy it. Say hi to Stephan for me!

We celebrated my 30th birthday with my husband at Meze, and it turned out to be one of the best meals during our trip to Reykjavík. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, inviting, and full of character — and the service throughout the night was genuinely outstanding. Our server was attentive in the best way: warm, thoughtful, and always one step ahead without ever feeling intrusive. He made the whole evening feel special. We ordered two meze dishes and two mains, and every single plate was exceptional: The Turkish feta parcels (crispy filo filled with feta) were a total standout — light, perfectly crisp, and packed with flavour. The grilled halloumi with roasted pepper and salsa was delicious and beautifully balanced. The feta lasagne was rich, comforting, and unlike anything I have had before — creamy, cheesy and perfectly baked. And the meat board was incredible: generous cuts of beautifully cooked meat, roasted vegetables, potatoes, charred corn, and sauces that tied everything together. Every dish arrived looking gorgeous and tasted even better. You could tell that a lot of care goes into both the cooking and presentation. Overall, Meze delivered everything we wanted for a birthday celebration — phenomenal food, fantastic service, and a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. If you’re in Reykjavík and looking for an unforgettable meal, Meze is an absolute must. Highly, highly recommended.
