I tried the soup of the day and hummus (both as appetizer portions) and blueberry cheesecake. All were delicious. Just keep in mind that the cheesecake is served in a frozen state and thus requires some waiting before consumption. The ambience is very peaceful. A great place for a mindful vegan meal away from the hustle and bustle.
If you’re exploring Reykjavík, Mama Vegan is such a peaceful little escape you’ll be glad you found. Tucked right near the harbor and the shopping district, the location itself is perfect for a relaxed break during a busy day of sightseeing. The moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels calm, beautiful, and almost Zen-like. The interiors are eclectic yet thoughtfully put together, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light—it’s one of those spaces where you instantly feel at ease and want to linger a little longer. The menu is entirely vegan, with a wide variety of thoughtfully curated options. Everything feels intentional—healthy, balanced, and full of flavor. That said, it is on the pricier side, and the portions are definitely on the petite side, so it’s more about quality and experience than a hearty, filling meal. One of the sweetest touches? It’s dog-friendly! We ended up meeting a bunch of adorable furry friends, which made the experience even more special. Overall, it’s a lovely spot if you’re looking for something fresh, mindful, and beautifully presented. Definitely recommend—just maybe not if you’re on a tight budget.
The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere to dine. The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. The menu has some Indian-inspired elements but leans more toward a fusion style rather than traditional cuisine. Portions are generous, offering good value for the price. One drawback is the limited selection for those who prefer mild dishes, with only a couple of non-spicy stew options available for mains.
I was in Reykjavík for 3 days and ate there 4 times! It was so good and tasty. Tried all of their main dishes, the best one for me was the yellow curry! Had an amazing time there and the waiters are very very nice!
I’m not usually into vegetarian or vegan food, but I decided to try Mama Restaurant based on its great reviews, and I’m so glad I did! The place is super cute with lovely decor and a cozy atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious! Even if you’re not vegan, this spot is definitely worth a visit! 🤤 The other thing that I’d also like to mention, is that it was a bit tricky to find the entrance. You need to walk around the building to locate a small door, then take the stairs up to the next floor. A sign or clearer directions would definitely help 😊
