❤️ What We Loved: * The room was much larger than we expected and one of the biggest we stayed in during our trip around Iceland. * Free parking was easy and convenient with our rental car. * The beds were comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure with plenty of hot water. * The breakfast was hands-down our favorite hotel breakfast of the trip. So much variety, everything was fresh, and it was absolutely worth the extra cost. 🇮🇸 Good to Know: If you’re visiting during the summer, pack a small portable fan. We had read ahead of time that the rooms can run warm, so we brought one for the nightstand. My husband said it made a huge difference, and I’d recommend doing the same. Even with the fan and the window open, our room stayed warmer than we prefer. The window isn’t very large, so it doesn’t cool the room as much as we’d hoped. And that’s coming from someone who’s usually the one reaching for a sweatshirt! We left the window open all night, but that also meant hearing traffic outside, which made it a little harder to fall asleep. If you’re a light sleeper, I’d definitely throw a pair of earplugs or a white noise app in your suitcase. The hotel itself is beginning to show its age in a few areas, but it was clean and well maintained. 🤔 Would We Stay Here Again? Maybe. We had a good stay and would recommend it, especially if a spacious room, easy parking, and a fantastic breakfast are high on your list. That said, Reykjavík has so many unique places to stay that we’d probably choose somewhere different next time just to experience something new.

This is a good hotel with a very friendly and nice staff, clean rooms and a great restaurant. It's a simple walk to get to stores and restaurants and is located in a calm neighbourhood. One thing is, it's pretty weird to get a room where your window view is down to the lobby(each to their own) but once that happened I asked to be moved to another room and got a great room up in the tower. That's why I chose to come back here this time. I know I will be treated nicely and that I'll sleep well in a clean bed.

A decent base for exploring Reykjavík, but don’t expect anything beyond standard comfort. The room was clean and well-equipped with everything you need — just don’t come expecting wow-factor or anything particularly grand despite the name. Location is slightly outside the city center, but walkable if you don’t mind a bit of a stroll into town. Breakfast was fine — nothing extraordinary, but enough to start the day. In short: Clean, functional, and gets the job done. Good value if you find a reasonable rate, but not a place you’ll be talking about long after checkout.

Grand Hótel Reykjavík was honestly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in 🏨✨. The lobby design was more than wonderful, with a beautiful and elegant atmosphere from the moment I entered. The room was spacious, very comfortable, and the bed was super relaxing 🛏️. After long days exploring Reykjavík, coming back to such a comfortable room made a big difference. The room size and design really helped me relax and enjoy my stay. The reception staff were also extremely helpful and kind 🙏. They guided me around the city and were always supportive whenever I needed assistance. Their service added a lot to the overall positive experience. My only small comment is that there was no bottled water in the room. I understand that tap water in Iceland is very clean and commonly used, but having at least one bottle of water available would still be helpful 💧. Another point I would like to highlight is the hotel location/name on Google Maps, especially when using taxis 🚕. Since I relied on taxis during my visit, some drivers confused the hotel with another one or were not fully familiar with the exact name. Several times, I had to show the map to make sure they understood the correct destination. It would be helpful if the hotel could find a way to make this clearer on Google Maps or for taxi drivers. Overall, it was a wonderful experience 🌟. I have no real complaints, only compliments for the hotel, the comfort, and especially the people working there. If you are visiting Reykjavík, I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

We had a quiet, enjoyable stay. The hotel is in the midst of an expansion, which has caused their spa to close temporarily -- the gym is still available. Our adult children had a room on the 4th floor of the section closer to the construction. We had an 11th floor room with a view of the ocean on the other end. Our tap water was delightfully potable, the best of the famous Icelandic water. The kids' tap water was a bit sulphur-tinged. They actually loved it for showering -- very healthy for the skin! But they would visit us to fill their water bottles. (Water is free in Icelandic restaurants, much like in the US but unlike much of the rest of Europe. So, it isn't too hard to stay hydrated no matter what.) The kids had an American-style shower/tub combo. We in the Jr. Suite had a Euro-style shower that felt a bit cramped and tended to let water escape out from under the door. There was a separate soaking tub.
