First impressions are nice. Amenities are great. There is no on-site personnel, but they are responsive via email. The biggest downfall for me is the thin walls. I was able to hear everything the people next door were doing and saying. Fortunately management agreed to change my room and it was much more quiet. I also requested to be garden-side rather than street-side. Make note of this if you are hoping for a peaceful experience, because it is right on the main strip. Overall my experience was positive despite a couple of less than ideal aspects. But the beds are comfy. The kitchenette is really well-stocked with everything you need. Location is perfect for exploring the main tourist part of town. The wine bar downstairs is a nice perk, and being on the 2nd floor I was not disturbed by any noise.
They can use more direction to the front door, it looks like a bar/ storefront. The Google picture actually guided me in. Otherwise check in was very easy, look for the code they send you (for me they sent email and booking .com message) they responded quickly to messages. I did not have an issue. As others have said no staff on site, I ran into a cleaning lady who directed me to the front door, I ended up around back but I made it. I was a few minutes early and the check in code didn’t work until exactly 1500 but that’s what’s in the agreement. Great location in the middle of the town, about 5 min walk to bus stops.
Outstanding location, check in was 3pm but upon arrival before lunchtime our room was ready and the staff couldn't be more helpful. The facilities in the room was everything you could ask for, like a home from home. Iceland isn't the cheapest but there are a few shops close by that you can purchase food and cook to your hearts content and save a few ISK. The shower was so powerful and warm at all times. Plenty of fresh towels at the end of our corridor, so you could pretty much help yourself. All in all a fabulous hotel in a fabulous location in a fantastic City. Nothing was a bother to the staff.
Excellent location for our Edinburgh City break. Communication from the apartments was very good. We used the bag store on both our check in and our check out days, this was simple. Our apartment was a good size for 2 people. Very quiet dispite its central location and being above a pub. The only item I would say the kitchen needs is a small baking tray. We would definitely stay here again.
Great hotel option right in Reykjavik city centre. Perfect if you love old fashioned decor with modern amenities. Hotel is contactless check in and self service access to towel replenishment, which was ideal for us, however, would have made getting support for any issues with the room more difficult as there was no on site reception. Only issue we had is that shower drained incredibly slowly which I assume wasn’t a point of immediate concern for the hotel, given that the bathroom itself also had a drain on the floor, preventing any serious water damage. However, in the interests of avoiding the bathroom turning into a foot-bath each time the shower is used, it would be ideal to have the shower drain fixed. Lots of free coffee in both room and lobby is handy to save guests some money. Room also has oven/microwave and hob which is handy for guests trying to save some money on restaurants, however, room would be a very inconvenient to cook in, given how small it is and proximity of bed to kitchenette. If you need absolute silence to sleep I’d recommend a hotel slightly further away from centre as the old windows don’t filter out all the noise from the busy street the hotel is on.
