Lovely hotel with comfortable rooms and a very convenient location that's tucked away from the crowds. The breakfast is decent for the price - everything in Iceland is expensive, especially food, so any buffet-style breakfast is better bang for your buck. Most of all, the staff were incredibly polite and welcoming. You can store your luggage if you arrive early. Merci!
Looooved the complimentary breakfast buffet!! Really high quality with great variety, even had the opportunity to try a shot of cod liver oil! The walls between rooms weren't very noise proof so you could hear the music from downstairs and when people were moving about. However it wasn't much of an issue as we were so exhausted from our travels. Service was great and I thought the lift was very cute and retro!
We had the most perfect stay at Local 101. First of all our room was upgraded as we were there to celebrate my mums birthday which was so kind! The breakfast was great, they even prepared us a takeaway breakfast for the morning we were checking out as it would be super early! The staff were kind, helpful and lovely. Location was perfect, around the corner from bus stops and a short walk to the harbour. Overall highly recommend and hoping to be back one day!!
Our stay at this hotel was absolutely perfect from the very first moment. We were pleasantly surprised right at check-in when the staff informed us they had upgraded us to a larger, more comfortable room at no extra cost. It was a wonderful gesture that set the tone for the rest of our trip. However, the true test came when our airline canceled our flight the night before departure. We had to stay in Reykjavik for an extra day, which could have been a nightmare. Instead, the incredibly kind and helpful staff made it stress-free. They arranged for us to stay in the same room in less than a minute. After spending over an hour on the phone with the airline and dealing with car rental logistics, their efficiency and empathy were exactly what we needed. The room was spacious, super comfortable, and perfectly equipped. We didn't miss a single thing. Free coffee available all day long. The location is perfect, in the city center.
This hotel feels very much like a New York–style quick-stop stay, compact, efficient, and best suited for short visits. The Small Double Room is exactly as advertised: quite small, and for two people, a two-night stay is about the maximum you’d want to plan comfortably. The bathroom setup is notably tight, combining the shower and toilet into one space, with a very small sink outside. On the positive side, the service stands out. The receptionist was welcoming and genuinely helpful, which made a great first impression. Breakfast was also exceptional, especially considering the hotel’s size, clearly a lot of care goes into it. In the evenings, the lounge/dining area becomes a cozy, intimate space. With its doors open to the public, it offers a relaxed atmosphere for light food and drinks, adding a nice social element to the stay. One downside worth noting is the noise. I experienced sounds coming through the pipes and could hear the neighboring unit, which may be an issue if you’re a light sleeper. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a short, convenient stay and don’t mind compact accommodations.
