It was our first lunch in Iceland and we couldn’t have gone to a better place. They serve delicious local soups in breads, with free refill for the vegetarian and for the lamb soup. You also get free waffle with your purchase. They also sell shark pieces with Brennivín and local draught beers. Its expensive, but compared to Icelandic price level it was actually on the more affordable side compared to other places nearby. Service was also excellent, very friendly staff. I also really liked the design of the restaurant. It can get quite busy during early afternoon lunch hours so make sure you have a table before ordering.

You should only eat here if 1) you don't mind paying 3250 ISK (~23 EUR) for a bowl of soup, or 2) you can eat a large amount of refills to get your money's worth. The price is quite high for a soup, but it becomes interesting when you learn that you get unlimited refills (of the lamb soup and the tomato soup; the fish soup doesn't get refills). I had the lamb one and got 4 refills, so ~4.50 EUR per bowl actually seems very cheap now! And the soup is very good: generous amounts of lamb, a tasty broth, and you even get it in a bread bowl, which is a very nice touch. The atmosphere is also very cozy, and I found it very funny that if you have 14 or more refills, you get your Polaroid picture taken and immortalized on the wall. Make sure to arrive hungry if you want to make it into the Hall of Fame!

Tried three different soups, and they were all very unique. The tomato one had an interesting, almost BBQ-like flavor. the bread bowl was only cool for the look; the bread itself didn’t taste good. I'd probably recommend skipping the bread bowl. Also, the waffles at the shop were pretty good.

My husband and I had a great experience at Icelandic Street Food. The soups are delicious and truly special, and the free refill is such a great idea. The complimentary waffles for dessert were a lovely surprise and the perfect ending to our meal. Friendly service, great food, and excellent value. Highly recommended! 🍲🧇🇮🇸🫶🏻

We visited this restaurant specifically to try their famous soup served in a bread bowl. It was extremely busy during lunchtime, so be prepared for a bit of a crowd. One important thing to note is that you need to secure a table before placing your order. We tried the lamb soup in a bread bowl, the tomato soup in a bread bowl, and the fermented shark. The portion sizes are quite generous—definitely enough for one person—and the soups were served warm and flavorful. In my opinion, it’s absolutely worth trying, especially for the unique experience. The décor is quite interesting and adds to the overall charm of the place. There’s also additional seating available upstairs. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better.
