Superb hotel! The location assures convenient walking access to downtown activities and to all the attractions at the Old Harbor, even to our conference over at the University. Comfortable bed, shower, work area, and good amenities like blackout curtains that we needed with the midnight sun. We looked forward to the delicious breakfast at Le Kock each morning with a fine variety of eggs, meat, fruit, skyr, granola, juices, yummy bread and bread pudding. Helpful staff. Excellent choice that made our 5-night stay so enjoyable.

Very disappointing hotel experience. The hotel does not have parking, which is already inconvenient. However, the biggest problem is the lobby area. When you arrive, you expect to enter a pleasant and relaxing hotel lobby, but instead you have to walk through a fast-food restaurant to reach the reception. The restaurant and lobby are essentially connected, and the smell of frying oil and kitchen grease is everywhere. The odor is so strong that it becomes nauseating and spreads throughout the entire floor. The hotel itself is very dark and unattractive. There is hardly any real design, just exposed concrete everywhere, which creates a cold and gloomy atmosphere. There is also no air conditioning, making the stay even less comfortable. Another major disappointment is the lack of a proper hotel restaurant. For a hotel of this category, I expected a comfortable dining area, but instead there is something closer to a sports bar. In the evenings it becomes crowded and noisy, with very little privacy or sense of relaxation. Rather than feeling like a quality hotel, the overall atmosphere feels more like a budget student hostel. The towels were old, rough, and brown in color instead of the clean white towels you would normally expect from a hotel. The only positive aspects were that the room was clean and the bed linen was comfortable and of good quality. Overall, the impression was extremely negative. This hotel seriously spoiled our mood and our stay.

This hotel is lovely! Staff is kind and helpful, there are free lockers to stow your baggage if you arrive before check-in time, and the location is unbeatable for boat tours and shopping. One thing to note, at least in our room so rooms may differ, is there is no air con or fan available for sleeping. The windows open which is good! But if you want to close the blackout curtains during the summer to block the midnight sun, the air does not flow into the room very well. We simply used eye masks and left the curtain open to maximize airflow and temperature. Otherwise the heat and humidity from the shower (next time will make our showers very very fast!) will stay in the room for a very long time. I am particular about temperature, staying cold when I sleep, so that’s my only criticism. But we figured it out and slept well eventually! ^_^ no problem Otherwise will 100% stay here again!! Beware of spending all of your money at that fabulous lobby bakery/cafe, Deig…! Lol

Exeter hotel was amazing. The rooms were modern and clean. The geothermal heaters were amazing, a great place to dry towels and clothes. The sauna was pure luxury, so clean and spacious. The front desk staff was so helpful keeping us informed of aurora status and helping me figure out the parking apps. 100% we will stay here again. Location was perfect with easy access to town and harbor.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Exeter Hotel in Reykjavík, but what truly made our experience unforgettable was the exceptional service from Czarek at the front desk. From the moment we met him, he was warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. Every time we approached him with a question or needed recommendations, he went above and beyond with patience and kindness. He didn’t just do his job and made us feel truly welcomed and valued. On our last day, he even surprised us with two of Reykjavík’s special donuts that are only made once a year. That thoughtful gesture meant so much to us and perfectly captures the level of care and hospitality he provides. Exeter Hotel is lucky to have someone like Czarek representing them. Because of him, our trip felt extra special. We’ll absolutely be recommending this hotel to friends and family. Thank you again for such a memorable stay
