Really amazing food. Iberico pappardelle was divine. Amuse bouche Popovers and lamb kofta skewers were divine. Kids tomato soup was elevated and best tomato soup I’ve ever had. Others really enjoyed their dishes as well. Services was 5 star
Given The Tides' placement on the Michelin recommended list, our expectations were understandably high — unfortunately, the experience did not quite live up to them. I ordered the chicken royale, which arrived noticeably dry. To their credit, when I sent it back, the chef was kind enough to prepare the dish again, and the second attempt was considerably better — though the chicken was still a touch dry. A small but appreciated gesture nonetheless. My husband ordered the tenderloin, which also fell short of expectations, and the sommelier's recommendations were not particularly impressive either. The wine list carried a significant mark-up, which felt steep relative to the overall dining experience. Service was inconsistent — our server disappeared on several occasions throughout the meal, which may reflect a shortage of staff, but it did affect the flow of the evening. On the positive side, the atmosphere was genuinely lovely and set a great stage for what could be a very special dining experience. With some refinement in the kitchen and more attentive front-of-house service, The Tides has the potential to truly live up to its Michelin recognition. We hope to see that improvement on a future visit.
The food at this restaurant is worthy of the Michelin star mention…delicious seafood, decent wine list. Unfortunately the service is a big miss. They try very hard on the front end welcoming us etc. lots of staff but sadly little attention to detail. We received someone else’s desert, our waiter never checked on us and fawned around a Russian oligarch most of the evening. We are polite Canadians who have manners. Find another beautiful restaurant in the city, the service here ruined the evening.
We thoroughly enjoyed dining at Tides, the Michelin Guide restaurant at The Reykjavík EDITION, multiple times throughout our trip for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our sincere thanks to Chef Krzysztof and the entire Tides team—including Veronica, Alina, Savie, and Prezemek for their outstanding hospitality and attention to detail. Each dining experience felt personal and truly special.
Michelin Mention - Yes on Food, no on Service. Amazing food, with subpar service for such an establishment. Dirty knives, food was served before the non-alcoholic tea was served as the drink. The server who started service, went MIA. One of the managers came by to clear my first course and asked if I wanted to order something else, while not noticing a replaced meat knife at my table. My empty non-alcoholic tea glass has been sitting at the table for the last 20 minutes. No water refill. A person was sat next to me, he waited for 8 minutes to order and had to flag a server to do so. The best part of this experience, was the kitchen chef/representative who was serving my dishes with upmost knowledge of the ingredients and also service. He had to fetch a spoon, because service did not even bring one for desert. If you decide to attend and start seeing the service go down below your standard, my suggestion, focus on the food, it is amazing. Final thought. I got charged for a bottle of my non-alcoholic tea, instead of a glass. $53 for a glass. BTW it is the end of service and it is still sitting on my table. Should I call the police for getting robbed? Not sure about Icelandic rules, let me ask Gemini.
