This review is not actually about the hotel itself, but about an exceptional person who works there: Sindri Snor Hjaltalin. My family and I were staying in a nearby holiday rental apartment when we found ourselves locked out due to a key issue. While we waited for our apartment manager to bring the correct key, Sindri went above and beyond to help us, despite us not even being guests of the hotel at the time. He treated us with incredible kindness, generosity, and genuine care during what could have been a very stressful situation. His willingness to help complete strangers, without hesitation, speaks volumes about his character. He made us feel welcome, comfortable, and supported when we needed it most. In a world where people are often too busy to stop and help, Sindri reminded us that there are still truly good-hearted people who make a positive difference in the lives of others. His professionalism and compassion left a lasting impression on our family, and we are deeply grateful for everything he did for us. Thank you, Sindri. People like you make this world a better place. With sincere appreciation, A grateful Club Member
Great located hotel for easy walking access around Reykjavik. Whilst parking was not available, the nearest car park is a very short walk. Staff are friendly and helpful. Easy to arrange an early and late check out. The only downsides. Our room ran a little hot and couldn’t open the majority of the windows. There’s no traditional hotel bar.
The hotel’s location is perfect – everything is just a few steps away. I loved the character of the building with its old, thick walls and spacious rooms. The service was exemplary as well. However, the breakfast significantly lowers the overall rating. It was very monotonous with almost no variety – basically the same thing every day. Even at 7:00 AM, the 'hot' dishes were often served cold. To make matters worse, the staff was sometimes up to 40 minutes late with the full menu. Great place to stay, but the breakfast definitely needs improvement.
Beautifull building and central location, the room was nicely decorated. Shower was dirty and needs to be scrubbed not only rinsed but over all the room and the hotel seemed very clean. There is an airduct above the bed giving constant noise and not an airplug in sight witch made sleeping difficult. Was not possible to turn off. The new restaurant on the first floor, Tívolí, is worth visiting.
Wonderful hotel. Kubar on reception was brilliant! Very helpful with queries before visiting and whilst there. Breakfast staff were wonderful all week. I hope they get to visit London! Lovely room with a delightful waterfall picture over the bath. Only issue was I bumped my head on the sloping roof in the room once. Central location close to the amazing Bus Stop 3 😂
