The check-in process was extremely problematic. There was no one on site to welcome us, and our room had been double-booked. Before arrival, you receive a code to access the building, along with the room number corresponding to your booking (in our case, a first-floor room with a balcony). The key is supposed to be hanging outside the room door. However, when we arrived, our room was locked and there was no key. We contacted the property by phone and message, but each time we spoke to a different person (Vladimir, Boban, etc.). We repeatedly received replies such as: "I'm unable to resolve this directly, so I'll check with the team and get back to you shortly." We were asked to wait while they supposedly looked for a solution. After an hour and a half, nothing had been resolved. By chance, we then met a woman who turned out to be staying in the very same room and had therefore taken the key. After another very long and frustrating phone call, during which we had to insist repeatedly, we were finally assigned a different room in the basement. It was far less appealing than the first-floor room with a balcony that we had booked, but they described it as an "upgrade" because it had a private bathroom. According to them, no other rooms were available. If something goes wrong, don't expect the management to solve the problem—you'll likely have to do it yourself. The shared bathrooms are very small. The shared dining area (self-catering only, as no breakfast is provided) is quite pleasant.
We had the "deluxe double room with balcony". The room was clean, comfy and spacious. Plenty of free street parking. Lots of shops and restaurants about a 5-10 minute stroll away. The communal kitchen is on the floor below the main entry door. Would book again.
Booked last minute, had to spend time between flights. It was cute, cozy and clean and basically downtown. Only things to point out would be that: if you have big suitcases, you will have hard time going up or fitting in to the rooms, if you are tall or bigger person (super narrow and sharp incline stairway and very narrow doors- like half of a normal door, bathrooms are almost airplane bathroom size). It is ok, but as a really tall person, it is a struggle. It would be nice to have staff to check bathrooms around 22, since they are shared, they do need bit of an check up and upkeep, orvat least extra floor towels would be really nice and necessary too. After few persons that only one existjng floor mat is soaking wet and useless. It has bit of an old house smell mixed with cleaning products, but you wont notice it after a bit. It was quiet, such easy check in. Comfy bed, complimentary coffee and tea in the room. Cozy, loved the decor so much! Perfect place to have a refreshing sleep between flights.
It was a very last minute booking for me and the location is very walk friendly for those who has no rental car and rely on public transport. Room is not very big but much enough space, very clean and cozy. The dining area in the lower ground floor with a garden view is a bonus, most of all, the host is very responsive to all the requests.
Great for a short term stay, located in walking distance from the centre of Reykjavik. Bedroom was much nicer than expected, clean and spacious. Bathroom and showers are a bit small but fine. Overall really good value
