Description
This two-day tour departs from Reykjavík and suits those interested in glaciers, waterfalls, and the Northern Lights. You will travel south in a comfortable minibus with a small group.
The first stop is Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can hike behind the falls if you bring a raincoat. Then you visit Skógafoss waterfall, where the Skógá river drops 60 meters from a cliff to the Atlantic Ocean.
Next, explore a blue ice cave and hike on an outlet glacier from one of Iceland’s largest glaciers. Glacier guides lead a 1.5-hour ice hike, offering insight into this rare natural phenomenon.
In the evening, you arrive at a southeast Iceland hotel for dinner and a Northern Lights briefing. If conditions are clear, your guide will take you to a good viewing spot. You will also visit a black sand beach known for local birds and wildlife before staying overnight.
On day two, visit the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, a 200-meter deep body of water fed by the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier. Witness icebergs floating into the Atlantic Ocean and watch smaller ice rocks sparkle on the adjacent black sand beach. The tour returns to Reykjavík in the evening.
