Description
This two-day South Coast tour offers an unparalleled opportunity to witness the raw power and serene beauty of Iceland’s landscapes. From roaring waterfalls and dramatic coastlines to glacial lagoons and mystical ice caves, every moment of this adventure is designed to leave a lasting impression. And should conditions allow, we will keep an eye our for aurora spotting opportunities along the way.
Witness the beauty of two of Iceland´s most beloved waterfalls - Seljalandsfoss, a spectacular waterfall plunges 60 meters, with a unique path that leads behind the cascading water. Not far away, the equally mesmerizing Skógafoss waterfall awaits.
The journey continues to Reynisfjara, the world-famous black sand beach near the charming village of Vík. Known for its volcanic sands, this beach is home to the striking Reynisdrangar sea stacks, which rise dramatically from the North Atlantic Ocean.
The second day begins with a visit to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, one of Iceland’s most breathtaking natural wonders, located within the vast Vatnajökull National Park. Here, colossal icebergs, broken off from the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, float serenely on the lagoon’s glassy waters before slowly making their way toward the ocean. The ice formations, varying in shape and color from deep blue to sparkling white, create a mesmerizing, ever-changing scene.
Nearby, the Diamond Beach awaits. This remarkable shoreline is where icebergs from the lagoon wash ashore, scattered like glistening gemstones on the striking black sand. Strolling along the beach offers a surreal experience as you take in the contrast between the icy fragments and the dark volcanic terrain.
Next up is argueably the highlight of the teo days - clamber aboard a super-jeep, and enjoy a thrilling journey as we ascend up Vatnjökull Glacier. Here extraordinary caves form as glacial meltwater carves intricate tunnels, which then freeze into solid, shimmering blue ice during the winter months. Accompanied by expert guides, you’ll learn about the glacier’s history, its movement, and the forces that shape these incredible ice structures.
After the ice cave adventure, the tour retraces its route back along the South Coast, allowing for another glimpse of the stunning landscapes and the chance to capture any missed photo opportunities. As the trip concludes, you’ll return to Reykjavik, bringing home unforgettable memories of Iceland’s breathtaking natural beauty.
