Description
The tour begins at Hveragerði Geothermal Park and Bakery, where the Eilífur Geyser erupts every 15 to 20 minutes. Walk the trails amid bubbling hot springs and enjoy freshly baked hverabrauð, a sweet bread cooked using geothermal heat.
Next, visit Kerið volcanic crater, a 270-meter wide crater with over 55 meters depth. The striking red earth surrounds a nearly 14-meter deep lake at its bottom, adding to the dramatic scenery.
Continue to Gullfoss waterfall, a double-drop cascade over 30 meters high. On sunny days, the waterfall mist creates large rainbows visible around the falls.
The route proceeds to Haukadalur Valley, home to Strokkur and the dormant Geysir geysers. Strokkur erupts every 5 to 10 minutes, shooting water 20 to 30 meters into the air.
At Þingvellir National Park, stand at the junction of the American and Eurasian tectonic plates, uniquely positioned with one foot in each continent. This site holds significant geological and historical importance.
The tour concludes near Whale Fjord at Hvammsvik Hot Spring. The geothermal pools here blend heated water from 1400 meters underground with seawater from the Atlantic, providing clean, rejuvenating bathing conditions. Your first drink is included, and towels can be rented on site.
