Description
Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Kirkjufell & Whale Watching Adventure
Experience the best of Iceland on this unforgettable two-day adventure!
Day 1: Snæfellsnes Peninsula & Kirkjufell Day Tour
Start your journey at 08:00 with a full-day exploration of the breathtaking Snæfellsnes Peninsula, often called 'Iceland in Miniature' for its diverse landscapes.
Snaefellsnes Peninsula has made a name for itself for its unusual and diverse landscapes. As we make our way to the first stop, we will ride across the moss-covered lava fields of Berserkjahraun. Viking legend has it that this is where two Swedish 'berserkers' (members of rival tribes) created Iceland's first road. During your time in Iceland, you will learn that folklore still has a huge impact on modern-day culture and sites.
Located on the northern side of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, the first attraction of the day is the 'arrowhead' mountain – Kirkjufell. The mountain protrudes from the ocean at 463 meters (1,519 feet) and towers over a fishing village below. With its unique shape and reflective effect in the water below, Kirkjufell is extremely popular with photographers. You won't want to forget your camera for this stop – not to mention the mountain is surrounded by some epic waterfalls.
Our next stop will be the cinematic Djúpalónssandur black pebble beach. Here your guide will treat you to some fascinating stories about local shipwrecks while you enjoy some awesome beach views.
Fishing villages are a key feature of any coastal tour in Iceland. For our excursion, we will stop in the charming town of Arnarstapi. Visit the town’s highlight Miðgjá bridge, a natural rock arch off the coast, and experience life away from the hustle and bustle. Just east of town, we'll stop at Búðakirkja, a lovely 19th-century church and of course check out the seals in Ytri-Tunga.
Borgarnes – one of Iceland's many charming villages – will be our last stop before arriving at the capital. Here, we will grab a famous Icelandic hot dog or other refreshments – the perfect end to an amazing day!
Day 2: Whale Watching Tour (09:00 - 12:30)
The next morning, embark on a thrilling 3-3.5 hour whale-watching tour departing from Reykjavik’s Old Harbour at 09:00. Cruise into Faxaflói Bay, where expert guides will help you spot Minke and Humpback whales, dolphins, harbour porpoises, and even the rare Killer whale. Enjoy breathtaking views of Reykjavik’s surrounding mountains and islands while keeping an eye out for vibrant birdlife.
Relax in comfort on our well-equipped boats, featuring warm overalls, spacious indoor cabins, a cozy bar, and free Wi-Fi.
This two-day adventure is the perfect way to experience Iceland’s incredible natural beauty, both on land and at sea!
