Description
Leave Reykjavík behind and set out in search of the Northern Lights aboard a capable Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4. With a maximum of 19 passengers, this small-group experience gives you the flexibility to travel beyond the usual coach routes and search for quieter places beneath Iceland’s dark Arctic sky. Meet your experienced local driver-guide, who will follow the latest aurora forecasts, cloud cover, weather, and road conditions throughout the evening. There is no fixed viewing location-the route is chosen shortly before departure and may change during the tour to give you the best possible chance of finding clear skies. The Sprinter’s 4x4 capability provides greater flexibility when traveling in Icelandic winter conditions and helps the group reach suitable locations that may not be practical for large tour coaches. Sometimes the clearest skies are close to Reykjavík; on other nights, the hunt may take you farther into the countryside. Once a promising location is found, step outside and take in the silence and darkness of the Icelandic night. Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while your guide shares stories about Iceland, the aurora, and life beneath these unpredictable northern skies. If the Northern Lights appear, you will have time to enjoy the experience, take your own pictures, and watch the sky without feeling rushed. Whenever conditions allow, your guide can also take a few natural photos of you with a smartphone. These are intended as a personal keepsake rather than a professional photography session. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings can never be guaranteed. However, your local aurora hunter will use experience, flexibility, and knowledge of Icelandic conditions to give you the best possible chance of seeing them. If the Northern Lights are not seen during your tour, you may join one additional scheduled Northern Lights departure free of charge, subject to availability and the applicable retrial conditions.Includes
