Description

All the best of the Silver Circle — Borgarnes, Deildartunguhver, Reykholt, Hraunfossar, Husafell — plus a genuinely unique finish: bathing in the same geothermal water your guide just showed you emerging from the earth. Krauma Geothermal Baths sits directly beside Deildartunguhver, Europe's most powerful natural hot spring, producing 180 litres of near-boiling water every second. Your guide explains the connection at the spring itself — 180 litres per second at 97°C, feeding pools five minutes away — then you get 90 minutes to experience it across six heated pools, a cold plunge, and a steam room. No Blue Lagoon pricing. No Blue Lagoon crowds. Same geology. The full route takes you through West Iceland's most concentrated stretch of natural and historical sites. Borgarnes is a brief fjord-view stop before the landscape opens up. At Reykholt, 13th-century scholar Snorri Sturluson — the man who preserved Norse mythology in writing — worked in a hot pool still fed by geothermal water today. Your guide tells his story properly. At Hraunfossar, hundreds of springs seep silently through 900-year-old lava and cascade into the river below with no visible source. The adjacent Barnafoss carries a Viking Age legend your guide will tell in full. The day ends in Husafell, a quiet glacier-view village beneath Langjokull, before the return to Reykjavik. Private vehicle, private guide, hotel pickup included.
