Description
Spend 4 to 7 days on a guided road trip exploring Iceland’s key attractions without the hassle of navigation.
Day 1 – South Coast of Iceland: Depart from Reykjavík to visit Skogafoss, Seljalandsfoss, and Glubrabui waterfalls. See the black-sand shores of Reynisfjara Beach, explore a geyser area, sample bread from a geothermal bakery in Hveragerði, and enjoy glacier views along the route.
Day 2 – Adventure in the East: Visit Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon with an optional amphibious boat tour (extra cost) and the nearby Diamond Beach. Drive past Vestrahorn and Studlagil canyons, continue along the fjords of the east coast, and optionally relax at Vök Geothermal Floating Pools (extra cost).
Day 3 – Lake Mývatn and Waterfalls: Explore the volcanic landscape around Lake Mývatn, including geothermal hot springs, steaming caves, rock formations, and birdlife. Visit Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall, and Góðafoss. An optional visit to Forest Lagoon Geothermal Spa (extra cost) provides a relaxing end to the day.
Day 4 – Northern Iceland: Spend time in Akureyri, the North’s capital, with an optional whale-watching tour (extra cost). Drive the scenic Tröllaskagi Peninsula, and stop at Kolugljúfur Canyon.
Day 5 (optional) – Borgarfjörður and Lava Caving: See Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, visit Reykholt Historic Site, meet Icelandic horses at Sturlureykir Farm, explore Viðgelmir lava cave, and visit Deildartunguhver hot spring.
Day 6 (optional) – Snæfellsnes National Park: Explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula’s diverse landscapes, visit Ytri-Tunga Beach (seal watching), walk the cliffs at Arnarstapi, visit Ingjaldshólskirkja church, and view Kirkjufell mountain.
Day 7 (optional) – Golden Circle: Travel Iceland’s popular Golden Circle route including geysers, the Golden Waterfall, Thingvellir National Park, and Kerið volcano. A visit to the Blue Lagoon can be added to this day.
