- Experience Skogafoss Waterfall’s power
Description
Your tour begins with a morning pick-up from Reykjavik by an experienced local guide. Travel in a small group by minibus, ensuring a comfortable and intimate experience.
The first stop is Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, over 60 meters tall. Its inward-curving cliff allows you to walk behind the waterfall when the ground is ice-free, providing unique photo opportunities.
Next is Skogafoss Waterfall, of similar height but much wider and more powerful. You can approach the waterfall closely and, on clear days, see Eyjafjallajökull, the glacier and volcano that erupted in 2010.
You then visit Sólheimajökull, a glacier tongue extending from the larger Mýrdalsjökull ice cap that covers the Katla volcano, known for even larger eruptions. Following this, stop at the Reynisfjara black sand beach, noted for its striking basalt columns and possible summer puffin sightings.
The furthest stop is Vik village. Walk the beach to see dramatic sea stacks, locally believed to be frozen trolls turned to stone. After exploring these features, return to Reykjavik by minibus.
