Winter Golden Circle and Northern Lights Tour from Reykjavik

This combined tour from Reykjavik suits visitors wanting to explore the Golden Circle and hunt for the Northern Lights in one day.

Highlights

  • See Gullfoss waterfall
  • Experience the Geysir hot spring area
  • Visit Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site
  • Hunt for the Northern Lights on an evening tour

Description

The tour begins with a 1:00 PM pickup from authorized Reykjavik locations. You will first visit Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for hosting one of the world’s oldest parliaments, Althingi, and for its location between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Next, explore the Geysir geothermal area, where the Strokkur geyser erupts every 6 to 10 minutes, sending water up to 40 meters high.

The final stop on the Golden Circle route is Gullfoss waterfall. This wide, cascading waterfall is ideal for photography, so bring a camera.

After returning to Reykjavik, you will have free time for dinner before the Northern Lights tour. The guide will pick you up again around 9:30 PM near Reykjavik City Hall and take you to locations in the countryside selected for the best chance to view the aurora borealis.

Because the Northern Lights depend on natural conditions, sightings cannot be guaranteed. If the Northern Lights tour is canceled due to weather, you can reschedule free of charge or receive a full refund for the evening portion. If the tour runs but no lights appear, no refund is given, but a free rebooking for another Northern Lights tour is offered, subject to availability.

The tour ends with a return to your original pickup point in Reykjavik around midnight.
