Description

Forget everything you think a city tour is. Becoming Icelandic is part walk, part game, and part crash course in what actually makes Icelanders, Icelandic. Over the next 2.5 hours, wander the streets of downtown Reykjavík with a local who knows all the good stories: how the city got its name from 'Smoky Bay,' why a single tree counts as a national achievement, the only war Iceland ever fought, and why beer was illegal here until 1989. These aren't guidebook facts. They're the kind of things you only hear from someone who lives it. Taste the iconic hot dog, learn some Icelandic and have so much fun while doing it! But you're not just listening, you're on a mission. To Become Icelandic! The walk winds through the city and stops by the most historic parts. It's an easy, story-paced stroll: about 3.5 km, mostly flat (some uphill), with frequent stops to listen, laugh, and look around. Then comes the finale: if you succeed in all the missions, your guide stamps your passport and gives you the only title that matters around here—honorary Icelander.
