Snæfellsnes Peninsula Day Tour from Reykjavik
This guided day tour from Reykjavik explores Iceland’s Snæfellsnes Peninsula, ideal for nature lovers and photographers.
Description
Travel through lush moss-covered lava fields, towering mountains, and black sand beaches on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Start at Mount Kirkjufell, a sharply rising mountain perfect for photography alongside its nearby waterfall.
Walk the black pebble shore of Djúpalónssandur, where you can find remnants of old shipwrecks and learn about Iceland’s coastal history. Visit the quiet fishing village of Arnarstapi, known for its rugged sea cliffs and the natural Miðgjá Stone Bridge.
See the 19th-century Búðakirkja, the black church set against vast open land, and the Ingjaldshólskirkja red church. Look for seals resting along the shore at Ytri Tunga Beach. Drive through the historic Berserkjahraun lava fields, associated with Viking legends, before a stop in Borgarnes to try a local Icelandic hot dog. Return to Reykjavik at the end of the day.
