Description
Begin with a pickup in Reykjavik by an expert glacier guide. Travel along the scenic south coast road to Sólheimajökull Glacier. Upon arrival, you will be equipped with crampons, a helmet, and a safety harness to safely hike on the ice.
The hike is easy and suitable for those with basic fitness. Spend approximately three hours exploring the glacier, including its crevasses and ice holes. On occasion, an ice cave may be accessible depending on conditions.
The certified Icelandic guide will ensure your safety while sharing knowledge about the glacier, Icelandic culture, Viking history, and folklore including trolls and elves.
The group size is kept small to maximize personal service and interaction. There is a stop at Hvolsvollur village for lunch supplies; you can buy sandwiches or snacks there.
