Your full day of activity begins at a quad base just a few minutes from the Reykjavík city center. Experience the freedom of driving an ATV up to the top of Mount Hafrafell before hopping on a coach to discover Iceland's' most famous sights on this tour. This tour is the most popular sightseeing tour in Iceland and a must-see for any first-time visitor to the country. You’ll see Þingvellir National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Þingvellir is the national shrine of Iceland, the birthplace of the nation, and the country’s top historical attraction. It is the only place in the world where tectonic plates can be seen above sea level. Next, you’ll visit the Geysir hot spring area. The entire area is on top of a vast, geothermal field dotted with bubbling, multicolored mud pools, hissing steam vents, hot and cold springs, warm streams, and primitive plants. This is where you’ll see the original geyser, after which all others were named. Geysir is dormant most of the time but its successor, Strokkur, erupts every 10 minutes or so and its white column of boiling water can reach heights of 20-30 meters. A few minutes’ drive away is the Gullfoss (Golden Falls) Waterfall. Marvel at the white water thundering down a 32-meter drop into an impressive canyon. On a sunny day, you’ll be able to see a rainbow through the drizzle, and in winter, the scene is even more spectacular, as part of Gullfoss freezes over!
