Description

Your guide will pick you up in the morning, at your hotel or the harbor. This tour is designed to fit in half a day (6 hours approx.) and show you the most famous sites of Iceland. It is perfect for whoever wants to discover some Icelandic wonders without being gone all day. Our first visit will be the National Park of Thingvellir. This park is where was founded, in 930, the very first parliament in Europe. This is also the only place in the world where the North Atlantic Ridge (The divide between the North American Tectonic plate and the Eurasian Tectonic plate) is visible above sea level. While standing on the very edge of the American continent, you will enjoy a beautiful panorama over the biggest lake in Iceland: Thingvallavatn. After a short walk of around 1 km along the tectonic plate, your guide will take you to a small, yet stunning, waterfall, with an interesting story: Öxarárfoss. We will then stop in Geysir, to see a geyser, named Strokkur. The original geyser, called Geysir, has not gushed since 2000. But its little brother continues to show up 24 h a day, every 5 to 10 minutes. The next and last item on our agenda will be the waterfall of Gullfoss. Gullfoss translates to 'The golden waterfall'. This name can be explained by a surprising legend that will be told by your guide. You will then be driven back to Reykjavík
