The Laundromat Cafe
Reykjavik
The hamburgers here are very good and they somehow don't make you feel as heavy as hamburgers usually do. Dirty brunch is the key to a good day.
The Laundromat Cafe opened in Iceland in March 2011, at the most ideal spot possible - Austurstraeti in central Reykjavik. The idea was to open a cafe combined with a laundromat where one could hit two birds with one stone - wash clothes and grab a hearty meal or a warm cup of coffee in a unique and comfortable environment. It had been a sensation in Denmark for years before Icelandic pioneer Fridrik Weishappel finally decided to bring it to the homeland. The Laundromat Cafe has a varied menu with homemade delicacies, toothsome cakes and pastries, wholesome juices, milkshakes, coffee, tea, wine and a wide beer selection.
The service at The Laundromat Cafe is excellent, and the staff is charming and friendly. The vibe and decor of the place is very homelike, packed with books, boardgames, free wireless internet and magazines for everyone to enjoy.
The Laundromat Cafe is a family oriented and child friendly place. In the cellar you'll find washing machines, bathroom facilities, magazines and a play area for the kids, full of toys and childrens books where you can leave your children to play while you eat, read and do your own thing. The Laundromat Cafe also encourages mothers to breast feed their children, and claim to love babies and boobs. Isn't that adorable?
The Laundromat Cafe is extremely popular among locals and packed with people at all times. It's the perfect place to take your family out for a meal or snacks, go out for a drink with your friends or grab lunch while surfing the web by yourself. No reservations are taken.
