Directions to Scandinavian
Scandinavian is, as the name implies a Scandinavian themed restaurant and bar that is located on the main shopping street in Reykjavik, Laugavegur. Scandinavian is a family owned restaurant that offers a variety of tasty dishes in a warm and minimalistic environment. Their emphasis is on Icelandic and Nordic cuisine and all dishes are prepared using the best Icelandic ingredients available. One of the main attractions of Scandinavian is 'smørrebrød', a Danish concept of an open sandwhich with different bread and toppings. The Open Danish sandwiches at Scandinavian are rumored to be the best in the city. Try the one with rye bread, butter, fried plaice, tartar sauce, smoked salmon, caviar shrimps, asparagus and lemon, or the one with warm liver paté, crispy bacon, mushrooms, salad and jam on rye bread.
The soups at Scandinavian are warm and aromatic, and the seafood soup is one of the most popular dishes on the menu. It's a creamy soup full of different kinds of fish and shellfish that completely melts in your mouth. The main courses are very appetizing as well and a little more upscale. Have a taste of the fried ocean catfish with white wine sauce and sautéed vegetables, or the prime lamb fillet with jacket potato, sautéed vegetables and wild herb sauce. Now those are meals you won't forget about. We suggest that you try some of their delicious cakes for dessert. The french chocolate cake has received great reviews all over town, as well as the warm apple pie with caramel sauce and whipped cream, and the carrot cake. Yum! Of course the menu is far more extensive. You just have to see it for yourself.
Scandinavian is a lovely restaurant in the heart of Reykjavik, where people go to have a hearty meal in a stylish environment. You should pay them a visit while you're in Iceland and be amazed by all the Scandinavian delicacies.
