Beljandi
Reykjavik
Beljandi is situated in East Iceland and is quite isolated, making it a little more difficult to access. However the views and the scenery are worth the extra effort. It is a great location if you are considering outdoor activities such as hiking, nature photography, fishing or swimming (although beware the water is very cold).
If you are driving to the sight, the best way to locate it is to drive to the Breiodalur Valley and find the Brekkuborg farm. The waterfall itself consists of two separate waterfalls sourced from the river Breiddalsa. However it is hard to make out the separate parts due to the often-heavy flow of water from the surrounding ice melt. The area is full of great vistas and is a delight for the senses.
Other popular sights nearby include the Eydalir vicarage, a parish, which has existed since early Christianity was formed in Iceland. The church is made of traditional white wooden paneling with a red spire on top. This is a great activity to fit in whilst you are in the area.
