Sólfar
Reykjavik
Not to be mistaken for a Viking ship, Sólfar (Sun Voyager) is a sculpture found on a small headland at Sæbraut not too far from the city's centre.
Described as a dreamboat and an ode to the sun, the statue is made from stainless steel and stands on a circle of granite slabs. According to the late artist, Sólfar represents undiscovered territory and a dream of hope, progress and freedom.
The large unique and beautiful sculpture provides endless photo opportunities as it shines in the sun and leads the eye out to spectacular views across the water and out to the mountains. It is the perfect spot to soak up the relaxed vibe and ambience that can only be found in Reykjavik. Spend the time walking along the coastal path, or plan ahead to stop by at sunrise or sunset.
