The Akureyri golf course at Jadar is one of the best golf courses in the country and It's the most northerly 18 hole golf course on earth. The Akureyri Golf Club was established in 1935, which makes it Iceland's second oldest golf club. After travelling around for many years, the club finally settled down in it's current home at the Jadar farm in 1970. The club is currently undergoing a renovation to ensure that the Akureyri Golf Course maintains it's status as one of the best golf courses in Iceland for years to come.
The Akureyri Golf Club will be hosting the annual Artic Open golf tournament this years as always, during the summer solstice when the skies are bright all through the night. Golfers from all over the world have gathered at this event for the last twenty years to play at least a few organized rounds of golf while watching the breathtaking sunset, and this year will be no exception.
