Bjarnarhöfn Shark Museum

Reykjavik

Museums

In this historic location, the hunting and processing of shark has been a part of the culture for generations upon generations.

You can stop by and greet the old farmer and get a personal tour of the exibition, where actual curing of shark is taking place, see how the process works, see an old shark-hunting boat and many historical artifacts, and of course you can touch and taste the shark meat and dried fish for yourself.

In the area you can also inspect a little country church from centuries past, one of the hundreds that were scattered in every little community around the whole county before urbanisation started in the 20th century.

Opening hours: 09:00-18:00
