Reviews
This is a great place to get tasty traditional Icelandic food. The clientele is a potpourri of different people, craftsmen filling the tank for more work, tourists who have heard good things about the place, plain Icelanders craving traditional lightly salted haddock with boiled potatoes like they had when young and even policemen taking a rest from dealing with the unruly segment of the population. In short, a truly unique and terrific place to visit for a nice meal and great atmosphere. Iceland at its best!
This is the real deal. If you want to eat like a local this is the place. Buffet style with free salad, soup and bread... But don't let the amazingly aforable price and basic interior fool you. This is food magic. The meats are savory, the sauces perfectly created, the soups ( and honestly we have no idea what we were eating) were so good that 3 days later I'm still thinking about them. The bread was fresh, crusty, sourdough. The salads were fresh and delicious. We were the only tourist at lunchtime. The place was full of local workers, cops, and shoppers. Best meal we had in reykjavik. Did I mention affordable... It was also the cheapest meal we had here as well.
