Kol Restaurant
Reykjavik
Kol has an excellent menu of cocktails made with home-made syrups and juices.
Kol describes itself as a 'casual fine dining restaurant with a big bar.' The name of the restaurant comes from the unique charcoal ('kol' in Icelandic) oven which lends a very special, rustic flavour to the dishes.
The cuisine is classic with a twist, skewing towards comfort food. The dishes include both very sophisticated dishes and simpler tastes and include burgers, lamb or beef, seafood such as cod and salmon, and classic starters such as risotto, oysters or foie gras.
Kol also offers a wide variety of high-quality craft cocktails. They put their own twist on the classics as well as inventing new and exciting drinks. Only high-quality spirits are used and ingredients with additives and artificial coloring avoided, the juices are fresh squeezed in-house and the syrups and infuses are homemade as well.
The restaurant itself has a sleek, elegant decor and a bit of that country feel, with different kinds of wood and minerals, leather benches and paintings of Icelandic birds on the walls.
