If you're having a medical emergency, dial (00354) 112 for an ambulance!!
The late-night clinic is available when general doctors and medical services are unavailable. They are open from 5 pm to 11:30 pm on Mondays to Fridays, and from 9 am to 11:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
IF YOU ARE HAVING A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, YOU SHOULD CALL 112 FOR AN AMBULANCE OR GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AT LANDSPÍTALI!!
Public holidays usually have opening hours between 9 am to 11:30 pm, except Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, when it's closed between 6 pm and 9 pm, and then open from 9 pm to 11 pm. Should you require medical assistance at other hours, you should go to the emergency room at the National Hospital, Borgarspítalinn.
You can also get a phone consultation with a nurse if your health condition is non-urgent, by dialling (00354) 1770 between 5 pm and 8 am on Mondays to Fridays, and 24 hours a day on weekends.
If you aren't covered by your own insurance, and intra-governmental medical treaties don't apply to you, you will have to the full cost of your medical treatment yourself. If you are a resident of Scandinavia, you are covered. If you are from the EU/EEA, bring the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) with you to Iceland and present your passport at the clinic. If you are not otherwise covered, we highly reccommend you get some travel insurance.
