American Style is one of Iceland‘s best known dining chains with outlets all over Reykjavik and it‘s greater area. The main focus of American Style is hamburgers, but they have a lot of other things as well. The place is decorated in a modest way, a dark diner with booths to sit in and soft lighting. On the walls you‘ll see pictures of well known musicians such as The Cure, Pink, Madonna, Robbie Williams and more. They are there to watch you enjoy your hamburger while listening to their music. You order your meal of choice at the counter where the cashier gives you a knife, fork and a glass for your soda before you sit down wherever there are seats available. The soda refills are free, and we urge you to take full advantage of that. After you sit down you probably won‘t have to wait too long for your meal, the service is very quick.
The menu is extensive and the selection of hamburgers is excellent. They have a double cheeseburger, BBQ burger, bacon burger, salsa burger, the „Heavy Special“ 200 gr. Burger with bacon, cheese, cucumber, onion, bell pepper, iceberg and hamburger sauce, chicken burger, bernaise burger, the „Buddy Holly“ with cheese, onion, pickles, bacon, iceberg, mayonnaise and mustard, and many more. But that‘s not it of course. They also have a variety of sandwiches, salads, steaks, pitas and crispy fish & chips.
Everyone should be able to find something to their liking at American Style, and it won‘t hurt your wallet too much as the food is very affordable. American Style is the perfect restaurant for a family or a group of friends to go for a casual meal in a cozy environment.
