Friðheimar
A visit to Friðheimar is a lovely way to get to know another side of Iceland and the Icelanders. This farm in the south of Iceland breed horses and use Iceland's natural energy to grow tomatoes in greenhouses all year round. Visits to the greenhouse are available for groups all year round as well as the horse shows. You can get a food souvenir to take back home!
The Friðheimar restaurant is open all year round and serves food based on the star of the Friðheimar greenhouses, the tomato! Knútur and Helena of the Friðheimar farm grow four different varieties of tomatoes! You can get tomatoes in the form of soup, main courses, and even dessert! There's a certain harmony in enjoying the delicious tomato-based cuisine, right in the greenhouses, where lunch is served among the plants.
