Hosiló was easily my favourite restaurant from my trip to Iceland. I visited several places during my stay, but this stood out the most in terms of flavour, uniqueness, freshness, and overall vibrancy of the food. Everything tasted thoughtfully prepared and full of character. The staff were incredibly hospitable and welcoming, and I noticed the restaurant was filled with locals during lunch, which is always a great sign. It’s located right beside Íslenski Barinn near the recognizable yellow building, so it’s fairly easy to find once you’re in the area. There was also a daily special when I visited, and I was told the menu would be changing the following day. Unfortunately it was the last day of my trip, so I couldn’t return, but I absolutely would have come back again. I only wish I had discovered this local gem sooner.

We were very excited to try this place and had a dinner reservation on a Friday night. The restaurant itself is lovely, and the service was excellent. The staff were attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the evening. Our experience with the food, however, was a bit hit and miss. We ordered the agnolotti and the flank steak. The agnolotti was absolutely delicious. The vegetables really shone through, and it was easily the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the flank steak fell short of our expectations. It was cooked medium well/well done, but we would have prefered medium rare/medium. It had also been sliced at an angle, which made some of the pieces a little tough unless cut into smaller bites. We started eating the fries served with the flank steak and felt like they were a bit dry, so we asked if it would be possible to have some mayo or another condiment. The staff explained that the fries were actually meant to be served with a dressing that had been accidentally left off, and brought it out for us. I do appreciate that they change their menu every week, and we visited at the beginning of a new menu cycle, so I can understand that occasional mistakes may happen when there are new dishes to keep track of. As we were finishing our meal, I noticed that the flank steaks served to nearby tables looked much more appealing. They appeared to be cooked and sliced beautifully, so it may simply have been an unfortunate miss at our table. That being said, paying 7.900kr for a flank steak, I do think it’s reasonable to expect everything to be spot on. The agnolotti and the excellent service ultimately saved the experience, but the overall meal didn’t quite live up to the price or our expectations.

Fantastic food, great service. Highly recommend, very nice fine dining spot that isn't as busy as the more touristy spots nearby. Servers were very helpful and knowledgeable. The food was prepared in a lovely manner and the portions were great sizes. I had the mussels and tried both the cake and ice cream desserts. The menu is quite small and changes from time to time it seems like.

Perfect perfect perfect. The deep fried chicken with a deep fried pickle and gravy was everything and so much more than what I expected from a place I had so many friends recommend to me. Good white wine
