Reviews
Delicious food and service was superb in a cosy atmosphere. Waiters were friendly and professional. All the dishes were really good and wine pairing was spot on. I recommend a glass of Tokaj with the dessert to make it a perfect experience.
This was our first stop on our food tour in Reykjavik. We sampled the fermented shark with a shot of “Black Death” as a chaser. After that we sampled the Arctic Char. This might had been the best bite of food that I had in Iceland. I will definitely go back when I’m Reykjavik. The wait staff was so kind and prompt. The decor made one feel as they were in a cozy wine cellar..
We have ordered: * Panfried Scallops- cauliflower, apples, hazelnuts (n) * Smoked Arctic Char - horseradish gelato, smoked skyr, fried bread * Fish of the Day Great ambiance—warm and authentic. The staff know the menu well and offer excellent wine suggestions. All the food satisfies our appetite.
One of the best meals we can remember! We were originally disappointed when there was confusion with our reservation causing us to get seated in a backroom that lacked the atmosphere of the piano and lively bar, and our young server was either not personable or having a bad day, but the quality of the meal offset both of these issues. We ordered two different set meals to explore the range of offerings, and both delighted our taste buds and provided beautiful textures and presentation. I would highly recommend the Food Cellar for a special dinner in Reykjavik.
Went there for the secret 6-course. My wife had asked for no reindeer and they were able to accomodate her and even asked if it was just the reindeer or all wild game. Turns out there was rock ptarmagan on the menu as well. Very accomodating of them. We started out with an amouse bouch and a bread basket before the journey started. We bought a bottle of house wine and they made sure to top of our glasses before each course. There was live piano music playing until 10pm which made the atmosphere intimate and relaxed. Each meal was delicious, unique and carefully crafted by the kitchen and properly sized. We highly reccomend the Food Cellar and their 6-course secret menu.
