Don't even think about asking for a Carlsberg, they only sell brands that are hard to come across and you can't find at any other bar in town.
Beer enthusiasts, look no further because the Mecca of beer is located in Reykjavík! In a spacious cellar below Reykjavík Restaurant, just off Ingólfstorg square you will find Micro Bar. Micro bar carries between 80-90 different kinds of beers, ales, stouts, imperial stouts, IPAs, barley wines and a few lagers. These beers mainly come from Belgium, Denmark, America and Iceland, but the bar is always branching out for rarer beers, and at least 25 of the beers available at Micro Bar cannot be found anywhere else in Iceland. In addition to bottles, they serve beer from eight taps.
Micro Bar also offers some hard liquor and wine, but the real reason to visit is to sample some of the world's finest beers. Micro bar is run by Árni Hafstað, the man behind the microbrewery Gæðingur in the North of Iceland. The interior is stylish and artistic, and the illustrations on the walls were made by cherished Icelandic artist and comedian, Hugleikur Dagsson.
So there you have it, beer experts and enthusiasts need not turn their nose up and turn to sobriety anymore, Micro Bar is finally here and will take good care of you.
