An easy half hour drive from the city of Reykjavik, in south-west Iceland Blafjoll ski region is popular with city dwellers who can be there in no time when the snow starts to fall, as well as tourists who fancy something a bit different on their visit to the capital. It is well known for its varied landscapes and impressive views from all slopes as well as great range of skiing opportunities.
The maze of 14 lifts transport skiers up to a plethora of downhill slopes for beginners to off-piste pros as well as a great choice of cross country routes for those wanting to improve their fitness. Take a look at the piste map for the slope layout. The resort is aglow with floodlighting in the evenings meaning you can stay out and about even in the mid-winter when sunlight is limited.
If you don't have access to a car, public buses run from Olis in Mjodd on weekdays at 4.15pm, returning at 9.05pm and at weekends at 12.40pm, returning at 5pm.
