The Reykjavik Family Park is an ideal place to spend the day with your family. It's located in Laugardalur, a family friendly outdoor area close to the heart of Reykjavik. It's situated right by the Reykjavik Zoo and the entrance fee applies to both places, so it is ideal to visit them at the same time. The Reykjavik Family Park offers a lot of activities and facilities for a great day of family fun, and it's regularly frequented by Icelandic locals. During the summer months there are regular scheduled events.
There are several rides and playground equipment at the Reykjavik Family Park, so every kid should be able to find something to their liking. You can either purchase tickets or a day pass to go on the rides. The merry-go-round is suitable for all ages, and it costs one ticket to ride it. The train is a tour train that rides through the park and the Reykjavik Zoo, also for one ticket. Also to be found at the park are attractions such as the drop tower, a rocking ship, boat rides, cycling route and electric mini-cars to name a few. Note that the rides at the Family Park are limited in winter.
The cafe where light refreshments can be purchased is open all year. During the summer there's also a snack bar/shop where visitors can buy hot dogs and barbecue them on a large outdoor grill. You're also allowed to bring your own provisions if you wish, the outdoor grill is available to all guests of the zoo.
If you want to make the most of your Reykjavík Experience, you may want to pick up a Reykjavík City Card, which grants you access to the family park and zoo, all the public museums, public pools and city busses, in addition to discounts on many other things!
