From Reykjavík: Volcanoes and Blue Lagoon Day Trip
736 ReviewsHike on trails to the Litli Hrutur Volcano and the new eruption sites in Geldingadalur Valley on a guided day trip from Reykjavík. Soak in the geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon.
The Fish Company is located in one of the oldest houses in Reykjavik, commonly known as the Zimsen building. It dates back to 1884 and was originally situated in Hafnarstræti, a few hundred meters east of its current location. In 2006, the house was completely renovated and in 2008, moved to its current location. During the groundwork stages of the Grófartorg reconstruction area, excavation revealed the remains of the old harbour. They were incorporated into 'The Tides', a work of art by Hjörleifur Stefánsson. It gives the area a unique atmosphere that gets accentuated even further as the tide rolls in and out of the artwork simultaneously to the tide in the current harbour.
Quality, fusion and fun are the Fish Company's main characteristics. The interior is stylish and the quirky tableware, specially designed for the restaurant, fits in wonderfully. The menu is designed to take you on a seafood journey, not only on the Icelandic culinary waters. but around the world. Top class marine cuisine meld together with themes from Japan, France, Sweden, Fiji, Ireland, Tahiti and the USA to name few.
For first timers and travelers, we highly recommend 'Around Iceland', where the freshest Icelandic ingredients come together in a four-course culinary feast you won't soon forget. If that doesn't tickle your tastebuds, try the 'Around the World' culinary cruise if you are with a group. This set menu is served for the whole table only, family style. The wonderful voyage contains the best of meat and fish from Iceland, enhanced with herbs and spices from all over the globe.
The wonderful surroundings of the renovated old house, combined with the fresh Icelandic ingredients and innovative cuisine are sure to make your evening something to remember. Whether you go in for lunch or dinner, you are in for a treat.
