Fish Company - Fiskfélagið
They have a fantastic outdoor seating area in the summertime. Do not hesitate to ask for outdoor seating on a warm summer day.
The Fish Company is located in one of the oldest houses in Reykjavik, commonly known as the Zimsen building. It dates back to 1884 and was originally situated in Hafnarstræti, a few hundred meters east of its current location. In 2006, the house was completely renovated and in 2008, moved to its current location. During the groundwork stages of the Grófartorg reconstruction area, excavation revealed the remains of the old harbour. They were incorporated into 'The Tides', a work of art by Hjörleifur Stefánsson. It gives the area a unique atmosphere that gets accentuated even further as the tide rolls in and out of the artwork simultaneously to the tide in the current harbour.
Quality, fusion and fun are the Fish Company's main characteristics. The interior is stylish and the quirky tableware, specially designed for the restaurant, fits in wonderfully. The menu is designed to take you on a seafood journey, not only on the Icelandic culinary waters. but around the world. Top class marine cuisine meld together with themes from Japan, France, Sweden, Fiji, Ireland, Tahiti and the USA to name few.
For first timers and travelers, we highly recommend 'Around Iceland', where the freshest Icelandic ingredients come together in a four-course culinary feast you won't soon forget.
