Seafood Grill - Sjavargrillid
Reykjavik
We recommend having lunch here. It's very affordable and the choices on the lunch menu are very exciting.
Sjávargrillið (Seafood Grill) is, as the name implies, an Icelandic seafood restaurant in Reykjavík, located midway between the magnificent Hallgrimskirkja and the busy Laugavegur shopping street. Sjávargrillið's main objective is to give the customer a deluxe traditional Icelandic food experience, whether they may crave seafood delicacies, or quality meat and vegetable dishes.
Sjávargrillið was founded in the summer of 2011 by young chef Gústav Axel Gunnlaugsson and master chef/owner Lárus Gunnar Jónasson. While travelling the country looking for the real taste of Iceland, they found their inspiration for the menu and were able to collect decorative items for the restaurant along the way. At Sjavargrillið, you can have a classy meal in a stylish, yet informal, ambiance.
The menu is quite simple and straight forward. The lunch menu is enticing and affordable, put together of appetizers, main courses, lighter mains and deserts. The prices go up as the hours pass but the dinner menu is still reasonable. We recommend the 'Grill Party', a multi-course grill feast sample menu put together by the chef, guaranteed to make every mouth water. Another honourable mention is the 'Lobster Feast', a three-course meal that consists of golden sea perch and grilled Icelandic langoustine for starters, grilled & deep fried Icelandic lobster and spotted catfish for the main course, and the grand finale, a delicious créme brulée.
We encourage you to go to Sjávargrillið and taste Lárus and Gústav's ambitious and hearty seafood dishes straight off the grill.
